acupuncture and herbs for trauma, nervous system support and anxiety
Acupuncture provides support to help the nervous system find safety
When the nervous system feels safety, we are better able to:
stay connected in our relationships
stay present to our own emotions and experience a full range without getting stuck or shut down
build resilience to stressful, painful or difficult life experiences and circumstances
build effectiveness in our social and family roles in our businesses, families and communities
support our bodies’ innate healing from chronic conditions
tap into our innate skills and strengths by following what lights us up
Acupuncture supports clients by:
Increasing awareness of the body and nervous system states
Building capacity for regulation and grounding through keeping present to felt experience
Reducing pain and threat cues in the brain
Creating new pathways for optimized movement patterns, and thought patterns rooted in operating from a place of ease
Supporting healing through neuroplasticity

Every nervous system is different and we understand the necessity to tailor a treatment to where your body is in the moment—titrated, effective support that doesn’t leave you feeling shakey, drained or overworked.

Some people prefer a quiet “acu-nap” with pins in, while others prefer a chat. Some like the pins to do the work and others prefer hands on assists with acupressure, fascial release, coaching the breath through tight spots, support in labelling emotions. We take the time to tune in and meet your body and mind where it’s at.

There’s a lot of buzz around “trauma” these days, but as defined by Dr Gabor Maté “Trauma is not what happens to you, it’s what happens inside you as a result of what happened to you. Trauma is that scarring that makes you less flexible, more rigid, less feeling and more defended." The good news, we can relearn safety and resilience.
We also borrow the term “small-t trauma” from SE practitioner Irene Lyon, where it does not need to be a major Trauma in order for the nervous system to learn and wire to feelings of danger or distress. A lot of how our nervous systems work is wired in childhood, preverbally and even in utero.
If you’ve been feeling a disconnect within your body and mind but have no story or reason why, acupuncture may be a helpful tool to get underneath our consciousness and deep into the heart of things.
